In the highly regulated Nuclear Power and Aerospace industries, ensuring the reliability of commercial-grade components is paramount. Our Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) process is designed to rigorously assess commercial items and to provide reasonable assurance that the dedicated commercial-grade item (CGI) will perform its required safety function(s)

Our CGD services support the procurement and certification of components and parts in all circumstances, including where nuclear-qualified suppliers are limited, parts are no longer manufactured, or original components are no longer available. Our services ensure that commercial-grade items (CGI) meet the necessary safety and quality requirements before being integrated into operations.

We have extensive experience in successfully dedicating a wide variety of components (mechanical, electrical, etc.) for a wide range of applications, to meet nuclear safety standards. Each unique item goes through a customized commercial-grade item dedication (CGID) plan to ensure safety and functionality.

Comprehensive Commercial-grade dedication package: We offer an industry-best Commercial-grade dedication package, which includes an auditable and comprehensive collection of documents that provide the objective evidence, verifying the safety functions of dedicated items, to reasonably ensure that the dedicated commercial-grade item (CGI) will perform its required safety function(s). It contains all the information needed for plant engineers to effectively manage the lifecycle of the component.

Develop the Right Plan: Our commercial grade dedication (CGD) experts will work closely with you to determine the safety-related applications, critical characteristics to be tested, and the test parameters required so that they can use their experience to develop the right plan as per requirements and as per Quality Assurance & Technical Standards such as - 10 CFR Part 50, Appendix B framework, CSA N299.2, ASME NQA-1 and EPRI NP-5652.

Step 1

Technical Evaluation

We define the safety function, critical characteristics, and dedication methods for acceptance criteria for each component. During the technical evaluation, we determine the component's safety function, performance requirements, and any additional environmental or seismic testing needed. We also identify whether the replacement item is like-for-like, equivalent, or new.

Step 2

Dedication Plan

A detailed CGID plan is developed to verify the component's critical characteristics and identify the testing tolerances required to pass or fail, ensuring that each component meets the safety requirements before entering service.
Key elements include: Identifying critical characteristics; Selecting the appropriate dedication method; Defining testing tolerances and sampling plans; Ensuring all tests are conducted prior to final certification.

Step 3

Procurement and Inspection

The commercial-grade item is procured and inspected upon receipt as per the Inspection Test Plan (ITP) to ensure it meets all defined criteria..

Step 4

Testing and Verification

Comprehensive testing as per the Acceptance Test Plan (ATP)verifies that the item’s critical characteristics align with safety standards.

Step 5

Commercial Grade Item dedication package

A Comprehensive Commercial-grade dedication package which also includes the Final Inspection and Certification of the item(s) are provided to the customer, confirming with reasonable assurance that the dedicated commercial-grade item (CGI) will perform its required safety function(s). The package contains all the information needed for plant engineers to effectively manage the lifecycle of the component.
